Subj: Static address wasn't static

Hello all,
My router reverted to factory default settings around midnight
Central Time last night. Unfortunately there were some settings
in there related to my static address, and my address changed
as a result. Like a fool I had not saved a local copy of the
router's configuration. It's an integrated router/DSL modem,
and the settings that were added to enable the static address
were not intuitive. Kicking myself for not at least taking a
screen shot of them.
Fortunately I still have a dynamic DNS service, which was pointed
to my static address and is now pointing to my new address. Those of
you who were still using k5dat.dynu.net in your configuration should
still have a link up with K5DAT-7. Those of you that have a static
address configured for K5DAT-7, which are mainly my more recent adds,
should change to k5dat.dynu.net, and I'll plan to keep the dynamic
DNS service indefinitely in case this happens again.
This issue has also impacted the amprnet gateway, and I have updated
the portal with the current address and verified it still had the dynamic
DNS hostname. Unfortunately I am still "off the air" on 44-net, and at
this time I'm not sure why other than it may just take some extra time
for the RIP routes to change. Also I know there was a portal bug reported
recently, so if it doesn't come up soon I'll send a note to Chris.
73,
Lee K5DAT
