Hello

It depends on waht you mean by "to run with".

It is true that any kind of BCM or OpenBCM does not interface into any type of
PTC-II (II, IIe, IIpro etc) directly.

The direct way a PTC-II wants to talk to its controlling terminal software is
either by terminal mode (cmd: mode) as programs such as Alpha, Winlink, KPTC
do or by WA8DED hostmode (with extensions from SCS) as FBB or Paxon do.

For running a full service pactor bbs including fwding you need scripting in
the fwd setup, such as setting frequencies, changing tnc parameters,
switching antennas, calling external programs before, while and after fwding,
using alternatives if calling fails, etc. .
BCM does not support such operation by any way. BCM was developed to run under
a perfectly working network, where a fwd neighbour is just available just by
"C CALLSIGN". It is using external AX.25 network stacks, such as linux kernel
AX.25 or init.l2, Flexnet under DOS or Flexnet 32 under WinNT and up
depedending on your OS platform.

What you can do is running the PTC-II standalone gateway mode and using it a
bridge from HF pactor to VHF packet where any BCM can be made avalaible and
play the passive part.

We are running such a setup here.

TA2BBS/FBB/PTC-II <HF> DA5UWG/PTC-II w/ built-in GW <UHF> DB0PDF-8/OBCM

TA2BBS connects to DA5UWG first then DB0PDF-8 is called from the FWD script.
FWD compression (B1 mode) must be inhibited since the pactor-to-paket gateway
(and vice) versa is not 8-bit transparent. But 7plus encoded data can be
transfers without data loss.
