GE All, and welcome to the Nov 2 2026 PCL Net.

Early checkin from Endaf, N6UTC, Wayne, KC2NJV,
and Rick, VA7RBP.

Net order is Daryl, Bob (NY), Charley, Carl,
Glenn, Scott, and whoever else shows up.

With it now being November, I hope everyone
remembered the time change yesterday. I was
awake for it, finishing up a square dance
publication that I just released an hour ago.

Also, our final set of net holidays is on the
horizon...November 23 for Thanksgiving Week,
then December 21 and 28 for Christmas and New
Years Week, respectively.

I likely will be doing The Weather Watch Net
with Arkansas Skywarn on Tuesday...much of
Arkansas has a marginal risk for tornadoes
and damaging winds...with nice weather the
rest of the week. We need rainfall badly,
as many lakes and rivers are way below normal;
with some having all but dried up. I'm sure
glad I early voted 2 weeks ago.

Last week, my 2 cardiac related procedures
(the chemical/nuclear stress test, and the
echocardiogram), went well...with both being
reported as "Stable". However, having to hold
my hands clasped above my head in that
circular tube for the CT Scan, severely
aggravated the arthritis in my right shoulder.

Then on Wednesday, I picked up a severe case
of diarrhea, losing a lot of electrolytes and
fluids. So, I went to the ER, and got an I.V.,
plus a CT Scan of the abdomen. They gave me a
prescription for a pain medication, which I
have not yet had to take. I have a visit to
my podiatrist for a toenail trim next week,
followed by full physical, A1C check, and flu
shot with my PCP later in the month...and that
should be my last medical stuff for the year.

A long time local ham, Andrew Stephens, NT5LA
(his callsign one character different from mine),
had a massive heart attack last Tuesday. He was
taken off of life support on Wednesday, and he
became a Silent Key on Thursday. He was one of
my VE's years ago...he will be sorely missed.

The folks on one of my D-Star Nets weren't not
happy that I moved the day and time for the net,
but with logging for, and doing a presentation
for the Arkansas Skywarn Training Net on the
2nd Tuesday, it was cutting into the early
checkin time. I started a poll, and so far, most
want it moved back to the original day and time.
I told them that if they vote to go back to the
original day and time, I'll do that, but the
EARLY CHECKINS will END. If they don't like
that, then I'll resign from that net as of Dec.
7. Arkansas Skywarn has been serving the National
Weather Service in Little Rock for 50 years, long
before D-Star came into existence.

Awhile back, there was an Emergency Responders
Net on D-Star, and when the Net Control asked
for help on Net Control (due to a work schedule
change), and no one responded, the net went QRT.

GE Bob...how was your week??

**

NS2B:

GE All.

A pleasant week. It's the start of leaf season!
I've got a big pile started, more to come!

Figured out the issue with the node upgrade not
talking to non-BPQ systems.

Loose nut behind the keyboard!

I'd forgot a change I needed to make, all good
now.

Still working on Hamword today. It almost has me
stumped.

20M has been doing ok for me the over the last
week.

And Daryl, LOTS of nets operate without early
checkin periods. Just do it that way and if they
show up, fine!

That's it for me. BTU >>>

**

NK5LA:

Bob, I sent you a PNG file on the leaf raking
(hi hi).

I resemble the "loose nut behind the keyboard".

I never got to HamWord, and FB on 20 meters.

I think what I'll do is eliminate early checkins
on voice, but do them on NetControl.Live, and
Netlogger. They won't be logged until the net
starts, with the regular voice checkins.

If they don't like that, then I'll resign as
Net Control as of December, 2026.

GE Charley, how was your week?? >>>

**

NT5R:

ge everyone

as usual been on the road much lately

Return from Georgia last week and heading to
south Alabama this Wednesday. My gal helping
fellow who had hip replacement. Said he's
having a tough time, so depends on how he
doing when we BOTH return to Missouri.

So not much radioactive lately. Just bit of 2
meters. Gonna take Xeigu G90 this trip and see
if can hear local 3858 net from Alabama.

Scott, have some packet equipment for you when
see you. Several AEA units picked up free or
cheap various locations.

Hopefully return for Nixa hamfest November 14.
Maybe catch you there. If not, can catch you on
way thru your area sometime.

So btu Daryl>>>

**

Charley, you're the world traveler. I can relate
to dealing with hip replacement (it has been
nearly 3 years for me).

I started using QSO One today (the day after the
net), and I'm really happy with it.

I still have an MFJ 1270C TNC, with a power
wal-wart, and an RS232C cable, but no cable
or rig for it.

GE Carl...how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE All,

Well, I *almost* got the time change right. I
remembered to adjust my alarm for this net, so
here I am.

BUT ... I forgot to add an alarm for Monday
night NTS net.

Normally, NTS is daily, but up to now it
interfered with this net on Monday, so I
would skip Mondays. No big deal, it's every
night.

But now it does NOT interfere, but I forgot
to add back a Monday alarm for NTS net and,
of course, I snoozed through it tonight. So,
I will fix that next week.

Daryl, glad you got through the cardiac tests
OK. I had a battery like that last year, and
I remember turning on my radiation monitor
when I got home, and yup, I was radioactive
for a day or so.

I pulled down a copy of Daryl's net list via
D-Rats and have been looking to see if there
are any D-Star nets that fit my interests and
schedule. Now that I have an Openspot running,
I need to use it more.

My new uhf/vhf antenna on the 991a is working
well, with good SWR, so I am happy with that.

Too bad there is so little packet activity
around here, though. Been doing a little checking
on HF digital modes as well, but FT8 seems to be
what is really hot, and it does not interest me
at all.

I don't see FT8 as real communication. Too limited.

My next thing is to upgrade the antenna on my
packet station so I can get better communication
with the local mountain repeaters.

I guess that's about it for tonight. Back to net >>>

**

NK5LA:

Carl, when the nurse set up the I.V. for the chemical
stress test, my left arm veins rolled, and the I.V.
infiltrated. So, she had to set it up in the right
arm. It was the last one she had to do for the day,
and she must have wanted to go home early, as she
said "you will feel like effects from alcohol...".
She and I busted out laughing, and she was so red
(hi hi). But, the right shoulder was more painful,
and I didn't really notice chest discomfort.

Glad you were able to get that net list. FB on the
antenna, and I don't know of much packet activity
in Arkansas anymore, but APRS remains busy.

GE Glenn, how was your week?? >>>

**

N3MEL:

Hello everyone,

Not to much to report tonight, we have been having
some great weather here. Hope it hangs in for awhile
longer, make the leaf work easier.

There is not a lot of packet activity here, but some;
however TPRFN is busy with traffic -- the numbers get
better each month.

Speaking of NTS, Carl we are planning another NTS net
as part of the Jan PKTNET net. Will make sure you get
the details when we finish the planning.

Daryl sorry about the loss of your ham buddy. Seems
to be a lot of that going around these days!

Back to you DaryL >>>

Glenn, I'd rather be like the meme where the Grim
Reaper meets this OM on a downtown street corner on
his lunch hour. The OM is told "Remember that DC To
Daylight Rig that you ordered behind your XYL's back??
Well, it came today, and she signed for it. Do you
want to go home, and face the music?? Or, do you want
to come with me now??" (hi hi).

With still being a widower after nearly 20 years,
that's the least of my worries.

I'll send you that same meme that I sent Bob (NY) via
email, on the leaves...or Bob (NY), you can forward
that to Glenn...your call.

GE Scott, how was your week?? >>>

**

K0WAV:

Hello Net. Sorry for the late check in. It has been
awhile since I was on the net.

First) Charley I am planning on being at Nixa
NARCFest so hope to see you there.

Second) the Club here also lost one of it long term
members W5CWW sk at 93yo.

I am currently participating in an virtual club meeting
and a On the Air net plus thE PAC so a bit scatter
brained at times...

I am now acting president of the local club while we
work thru some restructuring.

So, too many fires and not enough irons... btu Daryl >>>

**

NK5LA:

Sorry for the delay...Tornado Watch just issued for 4
counties in far west Arkansas, and I had to send out
the info to the Arkansas Skywarn Facebook Group.

The Arkansas QCWA Chapter is "virtual" is the only time
we can "meet" is at a regional hamfest.

I see you're violating the N.A.V.Y. (Never Again Volunteer
Yourself) Rule, as I am (hi hi).

That will do it for round 1...back to the top for final
comments.

Bob (NY), just saw your email...thanks for sending that
to Glenn, and thanks for the use of the BBS...anything
else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

nothing more here - everyone have a good week - 73 >>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Bob...thought you'd like that meme (hi hi).

Charley, anything else?? >>>

**

NT5R:

Scott, be good to cu at Nixa. Sorry your loss silent key.
We recently lost Branson club vice president and one of
main ramrods for club nearly doubling in size last
several years, NY0J, Jim.

He was involved in many things. Donated DMR ht that I had
bricked several years ago. He unbricked it and returned
it to me. Still working this time and more careful what
try get it to do!

Glenn, your TPRFN net, have studied bit about it. Good
program and sounds like expanding

Enough chatter for tonight. Will TRY check in next week.

Fun to type at you all. 73 btu Daryl>>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Charley...thanks for being here.

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

FB on the NTS connection, Glenn. I wish I was a more
reliable participant in the PKTNET ... it always
seems to get away from me.

I guess that's it for tonight. Back to net. 73 all. >>>

**

NK5LA:

Take care, Carl...see you next time.

Glenn, anything else?? >>>

**

N3MEL:

I look forward to your checkin Charly; and Carl
I get things getting away!

Scott, good to see you tonight.

And Bob, thanks for providing the chat connection.

Daryl, thank you as well 73 to all>>>

**

NK5LA:

Thanks for being here, Glenn...see you next time.

Scott, you get to wrap things up tonight...anything
else?? >>>

**

K0WAV:

Hope to be more active on the PKTNET Glenn, and glad
to the inclusion of NTS in your mix... been part of
NTS off and on for almost 8 years, very satisfying
service.

Thanks for the Venue Bob and 73 all BTU Daryl >>>

**

NK5LA:

Thanks for being here, Scott...catch you down the
log.

That will do it for tonight's net. It may be Wednesday
before I can post the scribe, as I may have to get up
before sunrise for Skywarn operations.

So, stay safe, healthy, weather aware, and radio active.

73 and GN DE NK5LA. >>>
