Gus, I'm not use lin-bpq. But using bpq32 and known well in past dos- and win- fbb.
And about text console and commands - yes its too done in FBB-style - mainly
for users habits and to support existing auto-PMS s/w. 
Its nothing about stolen source code too.

As an example, I have always disliked most of DL's BBS programs precisely 
because half of their console commands are completely different from
de-facto "FBB-standard" and it was about not possible to co-operate 
it with user-PMS s/w.

And at same time its main killer of radio-packet nets too.

Its special tcp-port for telnet-fwd in original format of win/lin FBB.
Try that if you want to do telnet fwd with other systems.

I'm used it well for telnet WinFBB<-->BPQmail, until FBB "retired" here (switched off),
as BPQ done all my PR purposes well for 10  years now.
